A Mango Like No Other


If you have ever tasted an Ataulfo mango, you know it is far from an ordinary fruit. While other varieties can be round and stringy, the Ataulfo is slender, elegantly shaped, and boasts one game-changing feature: its flesh is as smooth as butter!

International foodies and chefs favor it for very specific reasons:

  • Zero Fiber: You can eat it with a spoon without dealing with any annoying, fibrous strings.
  • Pure Sweetness: It hits the perfect balance of high natural sugars with very low acidity.
  • An Ultra-Thin Pit: The seed is so remarkably small that 69% of the entire fruit is pure, delicious pulp.

From Don Ataulfo’s Orchard to the Global Stage


The story of this delicacy began in the 1940s in Tapachula, Chiapas. A Mexican grower named Don Ataulfo Morales Gordillo purchased a plot of land that already had a few native mango trees. When he tasted the fruits, he noticed something extraordinary: they were infinitely sweeter and smoother than any mango he had ever encountered.Years later, in 1958, agricultural engineer Héctor Cano Flores studied these trees and was blown away by their genetic perfection. To honor the owner of the land, he officially named this wonderful new variety the "Ataulfo Mango."

What started as a passionate farmer's discovery has now grown into one of the most valuable exports from the Mexican countryside.


The Secret is in the Soil: Appellation of Origin


Just like Champagne in France or Parmigiano-Reggiano in Italy, the authentic Ataulfo Mango holds a title of nobility: a protected Appellation of Origin.Only mangoes grown within 13 specific municipalities in the Soconusco region of Chiapas can legally and proudly carry this name. Why? Because the combination of nutrient-rich volcanic soils, Pacific Ocean humidity, and intense tropical rainfall creates a microclimate that is impossible to replicate anywhere else on Earth.
