Tango® mandarin was developed by the University of California, Riverside (UCR) as an improved mutation of the W. Murcott variety. Its defining characteristic is the production of virtually seedless fruit, even under cross-pollination conditions, while maintaining high natural sugar levels, easy peeling and exceptional eating quality. Peru's coastal climate promotes excellent soluble solids (°Brix), uniform coloration and outstanding postharvest performance, making the country one of the world's leading exporters of Tango mandarins.
