The Haden mango originated in early 20th century Florida from a seedling of the Indian Mulgoba variety, selected for superior fruit quality, color and flavor. Its name comes from Captain John Haden and his wife Florence, who identified and propagated the original tree. It became the foundation of the commercial mango industry in the Americas and the parent of many modern varieties, establishing itself as a historic benchmark for its balance of firmness, sweetness and resilience.
