IFG TEN Grapes | #XL | Sol Produce® | Peru | BLK

IFG TEN grapes, commercially known as Sweet Globe™, are a premium green seedless table grape cultivar (Vitis vinifera L.) developed by International Fruit Genetics (IFG) and grown in Peru. Marketed under the Sol Produce® brand in the #XL selection, these grapes are distinguished by their large berries, exceptionally crunchy texture, thin skin and naturally sweet flavor with delicate honey-like notes. Their elegant appearance, freshness and outstanding eating quality make them particularly attractive for premium fruit markets, professional foodservice and household consumption.

Organoleptic Properties

Large to extra-large, oval-shaped berries with skin ranging from light green to yellowish green, a smooth surface and an occasional delicate natural waxy bloom. The flesh is firm, fleshy, juicy and exceptionally crunchy, with relatively thin skin that provides a pleasant bite. Flavor is sweet, clean and delicate, with subtle honey-like notes and mild acidity.

As a general varietal reference, Sweet Globe™ features berries measuring approximately 18–24 mm in diameter and an optimum soluble solids concentration near 18–20 °Brix, although these characteristics may vary depending on growing conditions, maturity and commercial selection. These figures are general cultivar references rather than guaranteed specifications for the individual #XL lot.

Suggested Uses

Ideal for fresh consumption, snacks, lunch boxes, fruit salads, bowls, yogurt, granola, cheese boards, buffets, hotels and catering services. Their crisp texture and naturally sweet flavor make them especially enjoyable when served chilled. In contemporary cuisine, Sweet Globe™ grapes are particularly attractive for gourmet salads with arugula, goat cheese, pecans and delicate vinaigrettes, as well as accompaniments for aged cheeses, charcuterie, poultry and fresh dishes.

They can also be incorporated into fruit skewers, tarts, parfaits, beverages, desserts and healthy culinary presentations. Their flavor pairs particularly well with citrus, mint, basil, almonds, pistachios and white chocolate.

Format

Bulk (BLK) per kilogram. Fresh green IFG TEN (Sweet Globe™) grapes, Sol Produce® brand, originating from Peru. Commercial classification #XL (Extra Large), indicating a selection of large berries. The specific minimum diameter and size tolerances should be verified against the packer's commercial specifications.

Clusters are sold by weight while retaining the original lot's size classification. Cluster count, individual weight, berry count and arrangement may naturally vary according to harvest conditions and commercial selection.

Storage and Handling

For commercial storage, maintain preferably at approximately -1 to 0 °C (30–32 °F) and 90–95% relative humidity, preserving an uninterrupted cold chain. These conditions help maintain berry firmness, stem freshness and the exceptionally crunchy texture characteristic of Sweet Globe™.

Avoid temperature fluctuations, impacts, excessive compression, condensation and dehydration. Maintain appropriate ventilation and follow the supplier's postharvest preservation procedures and packaging instructions. For household consumption, keep refrigerated, preferably unwashed, and wash only immediately before eating.

Quality and Selection Criteria

Select well-formed clusters with large, firm, plump and characteristically green berries, securely attached to their stems. Stems should remain in good overall condition without excessive browning or drying. Berries should exhibit exceptional crunchiness, abundant juiciness and a naturally sweet flavor, without fermented notes, abnormal softening or deterioration.

Avoid clusters with split berries, leakage, mold, decay, pronounced shriveling or excessive berry shatter. The delicate natural whitish waxy bloom found on fresh grapes is normal and should not be mistaken for dirt or a commercial defect. The #XL selection should comply with the supplier's applicable sizing specifications.

Season

IFG TEN is a mid-season green table grape cultivar. In Peru, commercial availability depends on growing region and individual harvest programs, with a marketing window potentially extending approximately from September through March, while major export volumes are generally concentrated between November and February. Peruvian production complements Northern Hemisphere supply, making premium green grapes available during the winter season in Mexico and other international markets.

Origin

Peru.

The IFG TEN cultivar was developed by International Fruit Genetics (IFG), a California-based fruit-breeding company that subsequently became part of Bloom Fresh. Its commercial trademark is Sweet Globe™, reflecting the cultivar's appealing sweetness and attractive berry appearance.

One of its most remarkable characteristics is that it was selected to combine honey-like sweetness, mild acidity, thin skin and an exceptionally crunchy texture, qualities that distinguish it from many traditional green grape cultivars. Unlike older table grape varieties, many modern cultivars are developed through specialized crossing and selection programs designed to improve eating quality, cluster consistency and postharvest performance. Sweet Globe™ represents this evolution in table grape breeding and has gained international recognition for its crisp texture and delicately sweet flavor, characteristics particularly valued in Peru's premium export grape industry.
