Rugby™ Red Grapes (IFG24)
Rugby™ red table grapes, variety IFG Twenty-four (IFG 24), grown in California and marketed under the Dulcinea® brand. It is a seedless, late-season grape originally developed by International Fruit Genetics (IFG), now part of Bloom Fresh. The variety is distinguished by its naturally large berries, attractive red coloration, very firm flesh and notably crisp texture.
Organoleptic Properties
Berries are large, oval and slightly tapered toward the tip, with light-red to red-purple skin covered by a delicate natural bloom. Flesh is firm, fleshy, juicy and exceptionally crisp, without noticeable seeds. Flavor is predominantly sweet, clean and balanced, with moderate to low acidity. Under appropriate maturity conditions, soluble solids may reach approximately 18–22 °Brix, providing a pleasantly sweet eating experience.
Suggested Uses
Ideal for fresh consumption as a premium snack, lunch-box fruit, healthy-bar ingredient, buffet item and hospitality service. Its large berry size and crisp texture make it excellent for fruit and cheese boards, salads, bowls, yogurt, oatmeal and desserts. It can also be served chilled or frozen, incorporated into fruit skewers, pastry applications, dessert decoration and gourmet presentations.
Format
Carton (C-CTN) containing approximately 8.6 Kg (19 lb) of fresh red grapes. The number and configuration of inner bags may vary according to the packing system used.
Storage and Handling
Store preferably at approximately 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) and approximately 90–95% relative humidity, maintaining an uninterrupted cold chain. Protect clusters from condensation, dehydration and excessive handling. To preserve firmness and appearance, minimize abrupt temperature fluctuations and maintain adequate air circulation.
Quality and Selection Criteria
Select fresh, clean clusters with large, firm, crisp and uniformly developed berries, displaying the characteristic red coloration and free from significant damage. The whitish bloom visible on the berry surface is a natural protective wax layer and is not considered a defect. Avoid soft, shriveled, split, dehydrated, fermented or mold-affected berries. Berry shatter and pedicel condition should also be evaluated during receiving and storage.
